It’s a hard task to concisely describe a book in a brief sentence (which is probably why I wrote the book to begin with, right?). Though this is the case, and since I’m an independent author who has to finish many parts of the book myself, I did conjure a synopsis for the back cover, and I think it’s a start on how to explain the book concisely:
Told through the lens of his middle-aged self, an artist revisits the most powerful memory of his life: a cross-country journey undertaken a year past a traumatic brain injury, a few months after a leukemia diagnosis, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. What once felt like a desperate escape slowly revealed itself as a path toward healing—a spiritual and creative awakening that would shape his faith in the unseen forces behind artistic expression and life itself.
Yeah, it’s super weird to write about yourself in the third person, but there ya have it.
If you're interested in some stats, the book is approximately 50k words, broken up into 41 digestible chapters, and on the artistic side of things, it includes approximately 70 drawings to accompany the story.
NOTE: This is a full-color hardcover version, a paperback version in black and white is also available.
